Renewable Energy Technology

Renewable energy technologies are methods for generating energy from natural resources that are replenished faster than they are consumed

Solar Power

Uses solar panels to collect sunlight and convert it to electrical energy. Solar photovoltaics (PV) is the most common method.

Wind Power

Has been used for generations to generate mechanical and electrical energy.

Hydro power

Uses water movement to spin turbines and generate electricity. This includes river and stream flow, marine and tidal energy, reservoirs, and dams.

Bioenergy

Uses biomass, which is organic material like plants and algae, to generate energy.

Renewable energy technologies are also known as clean energy technologies. They are important for transitioning to more sustainable energy systems that are less carbon-intensive.
